What can Spray Foam do for me that other Insulation can’t?

What would be the number one thing that sets apart Spray Foam from other types of Insulation?

If you go on the Government Energy Star website, they mention that one of the integral parts of an energy efficient home is thermal sealing.  This can be seen here: https://www.energystar.gov/newhomes/explore_features_benefits/thermal_enclosure

One passage on their site that highlights the primary benefits of Foam Insulation is as follows:

Properly Installed Insulation

It’s not just the amount of insulation; it’s the quality of installation that makes all the difference. Proper installation includes careful placement to eliminate gaps, voids, and compression; complete air barriers that prevent air from bypassing the insulation; and building techniques that minimize heat flow through framing. This ensures consistent temperatures throughout the house, reduced energy use, and increased comfort.”

Spray Foam, by its very nature, fills in all cracks, gaps and voids in a space.  This creates a thermal seal, which, “ensures consistent temperatures throughout the house, reduced energy use, and increased comfort.”

This is something that no other standard Insulation can offer.  The only types that provide this are premade and cost more than all other types of Insulation, including Spray Foam.  So in the end, Spray Foam is the only choice when factoring in price and a thermal seal.

How can Spray Foam Insulation Help me in My Attic?

What if you have an old house with a Five foot high or less ceiling in your attic? There are likely drafts coming from the outside. If you peek your head in the attic and see daylight not coming from a window, you are throwing your money away every day you don’t insulate.

If you notice the first picture below, we have foamed an attic with only THREE FEET available. Not only have we taken care of drafts, we have sealed the attic to make it a part of the rest of the house. No more heat lost in the winter and no A/C dollars spent endlessly cooling a space not inhabited.

If you have an attic that is used for storage or living space, then your attic can be foamed and shaved to fit so that drywall can be applied. Photos can be seen of this at the bottom.

These are just the most common examples, please call or email us with any questions on how we can help you in your attic.
